Nine Trails Added to U.S. National Trails System
On National Trails Day, the federal government announced that 340 miles of paths across nine states have been added to the [[National Trails System]], expanding more than 91,000 miles of designated routes nationwide. Secretary of the Interior [[Deb Haaland]] said the designations — all National Recreation Trails — increase access for hikers, mountain bikers, paddlers and equestrians while supporting local economies and conservation goals. New additions include urban and rural corridors such as the [[Razorback Greenway]], the [[Fabulous Fox! Water Trail]], the [[Iron Hills Trail System]] and smaller community paths, connecting parks, waterways and wetlands. The expansions formalize recreation assets, boost tourism and create more managed opportunities for outdoor activity under the stewardship of the [[Department of the Interior]]. Local stakeholders and land managers will coordinate maintenance and wayfinding improvements.
