SonicWall NetExtender for OS X Mavericks - The Hiltmon

This post explains how to obtain an updated version of SonicWall's NetExtender VPN client for Mac when your company's outdated VPN device doesn't provide a compatible version for newer operating systems. The author describes downloading version 7.0.752 from SonicWall's public demo site instead of the company's internal portal, then switching the connection settings back to your actual company network after installation. Additional updates note that OS X 10.9+ users should use the Sonicwall Mobile Connect app from the Mac App Store, and that companies can access latest versions through MySonicwall.com registration.

Sidestep

Sidestep is a Mac application that automatically detects when you connect to unprotected wireless networks and encrypts your traffic by tunneling it through a secure proxy server of your choice, protecting you from session hijacking attacks like those enabled by Firesheep. The tool requires minimal setup—you configure it once with proxy server details, and it then runs silently in the background, only activating on open networks while leaving secure WPA connections alone. Users can establish their proxy through existing servers, home computers, Amazon EC2 instances, or donation-supported services, with optional passwordless authentication via RSA keys.
